Maintaining Your New Behaviour
- Maintain the balanced lifestyle that you have adopted -- adequate rest, relaxation, good nutrition, exercise and recreation.
- Keep in contact with those people who have been helpful to you during this behaviour change.
- Live and enjoy life as the new "you". Feel good about yourself. Congratulate yourself on your achievements.
- Plan special rewards to celebrate 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months of your new behaviour. Keep those goals in mind.
- If a slip-up occurs, don't be discouraged. Start again, right now. Be positive and confident. Don't feel discouraged or guilty.
You didn't learn to walk as a toddler without any falls, did you? When you fell you got right up and tried again, and again, and again, until you walked, then ran!
Changing habits is much the same. Get up immediately. Don't sit there bawling! Get up, and try again! You will eventually accomplish your goal.
To fail is only failure if you fail to try again, (and again, and again!). You WILL succeed.
