Hints for Quitting Smoking

So, you really want to quit smoking! Great. You have already taken your first step! Let me tell you what you can look forward to:

Quit Now
  1. being able to smell the roses better
  2. being able to discern the finer flavours in your food
  3. smelling better to other people
  4. having more money to use
  5. being able to breathe better

Well, the list could go on and on.

How about making your own list? Go on. Put the benefits of SMOKING on one side, and the benefits of QUITTING on the other. I know which side will be the longer! Does that strengthen your decision?

If at any stage you would like either further information or e-mail support, just click the link below and leave a message.

Here are five "D's" for you to remember:

  1. Declare "I choose to stop smoking". After all, you are in charge!
  2. Delay - the craving WILL pass. It will be tough, but it will eventually get easier.
  3. Drink Water - lots. Water inside and outside, to wash away the nicotine as fast as possible.
  4. Do something else - have a list of 5-minute jobs to see you through.
  5. Deep breathing - fill those lungs with fresh air instead of smoke.

There is one other thing that you can try. I recommend it, but it is your choice.

  1. Divine help - it is always there just for the asking.

Pink RosesFind a Support Partner — someone you can talk to, and who is willing to talk you through those tough times. A fellow-quitter is not always the best choice, because if one stumbles, often the partner will stumble too! Finding someone who will support you, through thick or thin, is a great help.

A great support partner for you is Kevin Cobb 08/9309 9440 or you may email him at kevincobb@aapt.net.au. Kevin conducts Quit Smoking classes. He is also an ex-smoker who knows what you are going through.

To fail is only failure if you fail to try again.

I wish you every success.
